Playstation 2 = Extremely Good Value
I couldn’t have a blog sharing cheap games and computer equipment without talking about the Playstation 2. A lot of stories I write will focus on the PS2 and its many games because well, its about the best deal out there. If you want to buy it brand new, you can do so for $99. If you want to get one used there are tons out there. I finally wore my original one out last year (after 9 years of play) and bought a used slim model for $70.
The thin about the PS2 that makes it such a great value is the amount of games out there for it. If you are into RPG’s, this is your Mecca. If you are into sports games they still make them for the PS2 with updated rosters. If you don’t care about updated rosters you can get quality sports titles from Electronic Arts such as Madden 2007 for well under $10. In fact, probably the majority of Ps2 games can be picked up now for $10 or less. So, for the price of one new PS3 or XBox 360 game you can get 6 quality PS2 titles. You can’t go wrong with that. Throw in the fact that it doubles as a very nice DVD player, can make use of component cables and digital optical sound, and even has a remote and you can understand why lately the PS2 has actually outsold the PS3.
There really is a huge software library for this console, over 2400 titles and counting. If your looking for a few good ones to check out here is IGN’s top 25 PS2 games of all time. Any of the ones on that list are worth your time. It is also completely backwards compatible with the original Playstation so you have a large library of classics to choose from there as well such as the Final Fantasy series. Keep an eye out for specials at places like Gamestop where you can get used games at a percentage off or buy two get one free. These are excellent ways to add good titles to your collection without spending a lot of money. Finally, always come back and check out this website.
